BizWorld .guru is a new collectible card game for mobile devices and desktops made by the CTIG team, and is a true-to-life simulation of business environment. Game mechanics are based on the experience of doing business from the perspective of team and event management. We tried our best to make them life-like and logical; they are easily understood by business sharks as well as by the newcomers who are just joining in. The player’s goal is to build a company’s team and a system of management capable of capturing a larger part of the market in a few "business seasons". It is acquired through a competitive activity against a real-life opponent.
CSM (Communications, Sales, Marketing) "People buy trust before they buy goods" (Philip Kotler)

These functions have a direct effect on your income, profit, financial results and overall business success. They contribute to the sales of goods or services that the company provides. CSM includes a sales department, a marketing department (market research and advertising) and a communications department (public relations, investor relations and internal communications).

RPP (Research, Production, Procurement) "This is simple logic, but oddly enough the ordinary process starts with a cheapening of the manufacturing instead of with a simplifying the article. The start ought to be with the article" (Henry Ford)

This line deals with product and service development. It has a research department (developing new goods and property improvement), a production department (production of goods or services itself) and a procurement department. The main goal of procurement dept. is to provide the company with materials and components, or to do the wholesale purchase of goods for resale. It can also be a third-party outsourcing production. It goes a long way that a classical corporation cannot survive without either production or procurement. Otherwise it will have nothing to sell or offer to the market. This is the reason a well-developed production contributes to the sales.

C-Suite (Top-management) "Hire the best people, and don't trust them" (Donald Trump)

This line consists of company’s top management. Each of the top managers specializes in a certain type of activity - finance, administration, management of operating departments, etc. Good management with a deep knowledge significantly affects the success of your business. Companies can educate their employers to top managers or headhunt experts in the market. However, the price of such cards is high. Also, managers affect the size limits of the departments they are in charge of.

Support "Rule seven: work hard. A lot" (Elon Mask)

This line has to make sure the company functions smooth and trouble-free. It allows your company to concentrate on the core business and not be distracted by minor domestic matters. This line performs legal, regulatory, HR and administrative functions. The big difference made by these departments is noticed during force majeure situations: legal suits, rental problems, severe staff loss. That’s why they do their best in order to not let the crisis happen. Support is often outsourced by specialized companies.

Collect a deck

Mind that you’ll have to think strategically and choose cards carefully from the start. For the duel, you use a deck of 39 cards (26 employee cards and 13 action cards). Before you start the duel, you can rearrange your cards to make exactly the deck you need for your winning strategy.

Remember that each employee card has a profession and it can be placed only within an appropriate department. If the department doesn’t have enough space, the card goes into the freelancer section. The more employees are there in a department, the higher is the market power bonus they receive.

Employee cards come in three classes of rarity: regular, rare and unique. Rare and unique cards have special qualities. For example, rare cards are protected from the negative actions performed by your opponent, and unique cards are not taken into account when it comes to size limits of a certain department.

Manage it well

There are two types of cards: employee cards and action cards.

Employee cards increase your company’s market power and could have some extra abilities. They may increase or decrease other employees’ market power or salary, give opportunity to take additional cards from the deck, etc. Abilities of these cards can affect either you or your opponent.

Any staff member of your company can have a hobby, and if you gather three or more employees with the same hobby, they will receive a bonus to their market power by becoming a more united team.

Action cards do not have their own market power, but they affect the situation on the market.

Win

Duel is a competition between two players. During the duel, you and your opponent create and develop your competing companies. In other words, you take turns in forming your team using your employee cards and performing actions (business events) while spending available resources.

Duel consists of 5 rounds, you need to win three of them for the victory. In order to win the round, you have to score more market power points than your opponent. If the score is equal, the one who’s got more resources left is the winner. When the duel starts, both players have equal amount of resources. They will be replenished every round.

Keep in mind that when you play the card you spend your resources (for hiring an employee or organizing an event). In further rounds you will have to pay salary to your team of workers. Also, you can fire an employee any moment you like. Moreover, each round one random employee leaves your company (staff turnover).
